Today is bittersweet as we wish our GM of the last 5 years farewell – as she heads back to China to take on a new role with Hisense International, supporting the Home Appliance business.
Vivi Liu started working for Hisense International in 2006 as an assistant sales manager and quickly learned the fundamentals of sales and the importance of teamwork. Her passion and dedication to the Hisense organization got her promoted to a Sales Manager. She then took a transfer to Hisense South Africa in late 2009 and grew further within the organization – first, as a Home Appliances Regional Sales Manager and then, as a Sales Director overseeing both Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics categories. While in South Africa, Vivi proudly worked with a team to build Hisense refrigerator business from 2% to 22% (units) market share before her final departure from South Africa. She also accepted a mission to start up the field team from leadership, which was built from the ground up and involved interviewing and hiring 54 candidates over a 3-month period. Never backing down from a challenge, Vivi then moved to Marketing Department as the Marketing Director for a 6-month period after her maternity leave. And then she started her adventure at Hisense Canada in 2015.
About her team in Canada, Vivi says:
“I like the people I work with. I am so lucky that I had the opportunity to work with two excellent overseas teams, which were both caring and collaborative, and very capable of achieving goals and solving challenging business problems. Both teams had excellent teamwork spirit. My new endeavor is to share what I've learned from my Manager and team in South Africa and Hisense International and pass it along to the new team. It’s nice to see the entire Hisense Canada senior management team sharing knowledge with the junior staff and new hires and I love that we can give our staff opportunities to grow within the organization. Hisense Canada’s vision is to become the most trusted and loved brand in Canada’s consumer electronics and home appliances industries. We want to be a company where people want to work; and a company where we offer products and solutions that Canadian customers desire.”
Hisense Canada is a very open, collaborative environment where staff are free to share their ideas and make mistakes. Vivi believes in an open-door policy and is always willing to meet with staff members at different levels in the organization, as often as she can.
With this departure also comes the announcement that Rocky Yang will be taking over the leadership of Hisense Canada. Rocky has worked in consumer electronics for the past 18 years. He established three different R&D Centres globally for Hisense International and has been an integral part of the product planning team for the North American, China and the European markets for several years. After establishing and leading the Hisense USA R&D Centre for 3 years, Rocky took his business development, sales and operations experience and moved up to Canada in 2013. Prior to his official start within the Hisense organization, Rocky was the President of the Innovation Centre that created the VIDAA smart TV operating system and AIUI for the Hisense global market, right here in Oakville, ON.
About the company, Vivi says: “Thank you to the Hisense Canada team for making my 5 years here a wonderful journey in my life! I could not achieve what I have achieved without your support! I truly love the Hisense brand and look forward to the challenges and new career growth opportunities that are presented to me. I appreciate what I've learned in the past and can’t wait to share it with my new colleagues and other growing members in the organization.”
We wish Vivi Liu the best of luck in her future endeavours. The mark she left on Hisense Canada will be felt long after her departure and we are thankful for her unwavering support, incredible enthusiasm and dedication to her team and the success of the organization.
